Our Story
Hey, my name is Leora Davies-Rizel. I started the Birthday Project simply to support my fellow Miluim families. As someone whose husband has served over 600 days since the start of the war – I know firsthand how hard it is to manage the little (and big) things alone.
Sometimes, it’s the smallest gesture that reminds
a family that they are seen, cared for, and not forgotten.

I’ve decided to dedicate the Birthday Project in memory of my beloved brother, Yoni Davies, who passed away at the young age of 36 years old from a brain aneurysm.
Everyone who knew Yoni knew how deeply he cared about making people happy. He served his country heroically, but his greatest impact was often found in the simple ways he showed up for the people around him—caring for them, lifting them up, and bringing light wherever he could.
Yoni had a beautiful gift for making people feel seen, valued, and cared for. the Birthday Project is my way of carrying that light forward and keeping his spirit of kindness, generosity, and giving alive.
Through this project, we bring a little extra love and support to soldiers and their families—through birthday gifts, thoughtful morale-boosting packages for mothers and children, holiday packages, uplifting events, and support for soldiers’ everyday needs on base.
Because behind every soldier is a family. And behind every family is a story, a sacrifice, and someone who could use a little extra love.
